China and the U.S. Witness Unprecedented Decline in Economic Interdependence

Over the past decade, there has been a notable trend in the reduced economic interdependence between China and the United States. Currently, 15% of U.S. imports originate from China, a significant decline from the 22% reported in 2016. Simultaneously, the United States represents just 15% of China’s total exports, down from 19% in 2019.
