A group of “feral” youths have been caught on camera battling with what appeared to be sword-like weapons and hammers during broad daylight outside a primary school.

The shocking scenes in Plaistow, London, looked like a war zone as a group of yobs hacked and slashed at one another with blades just yards from the entrance of Southern Road Primary School.

Horrified onlookers watched as the armed youngsters engaged in a frenzy of violence on the street at around 3pm on Friday. The Metropolitan Police said officers and an armed response unit attended and four male teenagers were arrested.

A video posted on the local Newham People’s Alliance Facebook page showed an unmarked police car hurtle towards the fight before officers leapt out the vehicle to break up the violent melee.
