Yemen’s international airport “completely destroyed” in Israeli air strikes, airport offical says

Yemen’s Sanaa International Airport is no longer operational. Israeli fighter jets launched a devastating series of airstrikes, completely disabling the airport’s runways, aircraft, and infrastructure. This was a direct hit designed to cripple Houthi operations in the region.

The attack follows a Houthi missile strike that landed near Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport on Sunday. Israeli officials wasted no time in responding, sending warplanes to flatten key targets in Yemen, including power stations and a cement factory. The message was clear. Retaliation would be swift and overwhelming.

Footage from the scene shows thick black smoke billowing over Sanaa, with residents reporting widespread power outages. The Houthis claim that three civilian planes were destroyed, along with critical airport infrastructure. This strike effectively cuts off Yemen’s capital from international air travel, isolating the region even further.

The Israeli Defense Forces justified the attack by stating that the airport was being used for weapons transfers and military operations. The IDF also targeted power stations, claiming they were supplying electricity to Houthi-controlled military sites. This is not just about airstrikes. It is about dismantling the Houthis’ ability to function.

The Houthis have vowed to retaliate, promising more missile strikes on Israeli territory. Meanwhile, the U.S. has reportedly brokered a ceasefire agreement between the Houthis and American forces, aiming to de-escalate tensions in the Red Sea. Whether this ceasefire holds remains to be seen, but Israel’s latest attack ensures that the conflict is far from over.
