MURRAY: Is it true that people making under $184k pay a 12.4% Social Security tax rate?
DAHL: Yes.
MURRAY: And the rate for someone making $1 million?
DAHL: 2.2%.
MURRAY: So, a 12.4% tax for people making less than $184k, but 2.2% for a millionaire or .0002% for billionaires. pic.twitter.com/vgQWi886Ut

People on here are losing their minds over 12.4% like it’s robbery, and they don’t even know Social Security has a payout cap. High earners stop paying above the ceiling but still get the exact same benefit as everyone else. It’s fair, it’s built that way, but poor folks feel the hit and think it’s unfair. Stop screaming about the system being broken, it’s working exactly as it was designed, and everyone above the cap is not cheating anyone.
