West Nile Virus spreads to 33 states; public areas shut, curfews imposed, city ‘spraying’ planned.

West Nile virus has been reported in 33 states across the U.S. this year. As of now, there have been 216 human cases, with 142 of those patients experiencing neuroinvasive disease, which includes brain inflammation. The virus activity typically occurs during the summer months and into the fall, and it’s important for residents and visitors in affected areas to take precautions, especially if they work or participate in outdoor activities.

West Nile Virus has now been reported in 33 states across the U.S., and yes, that number 33 makes another appearance.

In response, outdoor public areas have been shut down, and "voluntary" curfews are in place.
