Washington state grocery store chain prompts customers to donate to ‘DEI awareness’ at the checkout

A Washington State grocery chain is prompting customers to donate to ‘DEI awareness’ as they checkout.

Photos obtained by FOX News show a self-checkout screen at a Haggen Food and Pharmacy — a chain owned by grocery giant Albertson’s — asking customers: ‘Would you like to donate to help advocate for DEI awareness?’

It suggests customers add a $1, $3, $5 or other amount donation to their total, but allows them to also opt-out.

Behind the self-checkout kiosk, there was also a sign advertising Haggen’s charity — the Haggen Foundation — telling customers that from June 14 through August 8 they can donate at ‘any register’ to ‘support organizations that make positive social changes to ensure all community members live a healthy and fully inclusive life.’

But their efforts come just weeks after retail giant Target came under fire for its support of an LGBTQIA+ group that supports children secretly changing their gender and another that seeks to shut down Mount Rushmore.
