A van crashed into a crowd outside King’s College in London today, killing a woman in her 20s and injuring two others. The incident took place near Bush House on The Strand, just before noon. One of the victims is said to have life-threatening injuries. The driver, a 26-year-old man, was arrested at the scene and is under suspicion of causing death by careless driving and driving under the influence of drugs.
Here’s the disturbing part: Witnesses said the van was swerving before the crash, which suggests reckless behavior. Of course, the police are saying it’s not terrorism-related, but that won’t calm anyone’s nerves right now. The fact that this happened right near a busy university campus? Chilling.
This isn’t just another accident. There’s a bigger issue here. If a driver’s behavior was influenced by drugs, then we need to start looking at whether proper checks are being done before people get behind the wheel. Why did this driver even get the chance to hit the road? This should never have happened.
