U.S TELLS CITIZENS TO LEAVE LEBANON IMMEDIATELY

The U.S embassy in Beirut issued a stark warning for citizens to leave the country or to be prepared to “shelter in place for an extended period of time.”

U.S Embassy Beirut:

“We encourage those who wish to depart Lebanon to book any ticket available to them, even if that flight does not depart immediately or does not follow their first-choice route.

U.S citizens who lack funds to return to the United States may contact the embassy for financial assistance via repatriation loans.

We recommend that U.S citizens who choose not to depart Lebanon prepare contingency plans for emergency situations and be prepared to shelter in place for an extended period of time.”

There are at least 12 U.S warships in the region, including the USS Theodore Roosevelt aircraft carrier and just over 4,000 Marines and sailors.

At present, there haven’t been any new orders issued to U.S forces in the region, nor any additional forces deployed.

However, they are standing by should the conflict between Iran and Israel escalate.
