United Airlines plane catches fire at Houston airport

A United Airlines flight from Houston to New York had to be evacuated after a fire was spotted on the plane before takeoff. The incident occurred on Sunday morning at George Bush Intercontinental Airport. United Airlines Flight 1382, an Airbus A319, was preparing for takeoff when an engine issue was discovered around 8:35 a.m. local time.

Passengers on the flight reported seeing flames coming from one of the plane’s wings. The Houston Fire Department (HFD) responded to the scene and assisted with the evacuation. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Video footage captured by a passenger showed bright orange flames at the wing area, causing panic among those on board.

The 104 passengers and five crew members were safely evacuated using emergency slides and stairs. They were later rebooked on another flight to New York scheduled for the afternoon. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the incident to determine the cause of the engine issue.
