Ukraine Troops have now Advanced into Belgorod Region

Sharing is Caring!

Summary of the day. Operation Kursk. We’re on day five. (10.08.2024 at 15:45):

1. The Armed Forces of Ukraine have also entered Belgorod Oblast.

It is confirmed by several Russian sources, as well as a video posted by the Georgian Legion. Ukrainians have conquered the border settlement Poroz and are advancing deep into Belgorod Oblast.

The incursion is believed to be part of Operation Kursk.

2. Statistics related to territory, according to
@malcontentmentT
per Russian sources:

– Width of penetration (along internationally recognized border): 59 km
– Depth of breach (confirmed in AFU control): Up to 21 km
– Depth of contested space: Up to 41 km
– Area under control (conquered) AFU: 531 km2
– Area contested: 270 km2
– Total area contested and conquered by AFU: 801 km2

In 4 and a half days (data collected by 13:00) AFU conquered more land than it lost in 4 months: 531 km2 conquered vs 514 km2 lost in April-May-June-July 2024.

Map: the red diamonds represent new incursions across the border that are supposedly related to Operation Kursk. Also on this map you can see the location of the Kursk nuclear power plant in Khurchatov locality and for a clearer view we have also marked Sumy in Ukraine, Sudzha in Kursk which is under AFU control, Kursk and Belgorod.

I still don’t think we can draw any conclusions this weekend. At least I can’t. What I can be sure of and there are already some confirmations:

– Russians are firing brigades including from Ukraine. There are sources who say that the Russians are already moving brigades and battalions from the Kherson, Zaporozhe, Kupyansk, North Kharvik sectors. If this is one of the AFU’s goals with Operation Kursk, then it is beginning to be realized.

– Operation Kursk I hope to be part of a “series” of operations leading to the political and military destabilization of Russia. It’s obvious that what is happening now is seriously affecting the Kremlin and friction is starting between the various actors (let’s not forget that Gherasimov is Belousov’s employee, Belousov is Putin’s new henchman, Shoigu is/was closer to Gherasimov than to Putin. And that’s how we can speculate a House of Cards or rather a Game of Thrones). If my hope for a series of such Operations materializes, then Winter is Coming for Putin.

– We wait to see if Operation Kursk turns into Operation West Russia, given the incursions in Belgorod.

– The Western response to Operation Kursk has been overwhelmingly positive. Yesterday the United States announced a new military aid package in the midst of this operation. The German Defense Minister being asked to comment on the appearance of German Panzers in Kursk, that “Ukraine is a sovereign state, these armored vehicles are Ukraine’s and it uses them as it sees fit.”

We’ll see on Monday how and where we stand, but it is obvious that this Operation is just in its infancy and the way it is being communicated (or not communicated from the AFU side) combined with the maneuver warfare deployed in Kursk brings a big morale boost for Ukraine, for us and for the Collective West.

The narrative that Russia will win militarily and there is no chance for Ukraine has been shattered. Definitively. Now the West must make sure it helps Ukraine win!
