Starting July 25, every adult site accessible in the United Kingdom must verify user age using hard credentials. No more checkboxes. No more birthday fields. If you want access, you’ll need to prove you’re over 18. That means photo ID, credit card validation, facial scans, or third-party digital wallets. The law is active. Enforcement begins now. Sites that fail to comply face fines up to £18 million or 10% of global revenue. If they still refuse, Ofcom can block them entirely.

The mandate comes from the Online Safety Act. It’s not just about porn. It targets any platform hosting explicit content, including Reddit, X, OnlyFans, and adult forums. Even social apps with messaging features are affected. Bluesky now locks DMs behind age gates. Pornhub requires verified accounts. XVideos is still open but flagged for noncompliance. Aylo, Pornhub’s parent company, called the UK model “the most robust we’ve seen.” They’re complying. France got blocked. The UK gets access.
