The UK and France are considering sending troops to Ukraine as part of broader defense discussions aimed at bolstering European security. This development comes amid escalating tensions between Russia and Ukraine and growing concerns over the stability of the region.
These talks, which surfaced in late November 2024, have been fueled by ongoing cooperation on military and defense matters. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot confirmed that “no options are being ruled out,” while the UK is reportedly exploring its own role in supporting Ukraine.
However, the Kremlin has dismissed these reports as exaggerated. Dmitry Peskov, a spokesperson for Russia, stated that the notion of sending troops does not reflect reality, noting that European countries are not united on this issue.
The discussions were reignited after British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s visit to France for Armistice Day, signaling a renewed focus on European defense cooperation. As talks continue, the potential deployment of troops remains uncertain, with Europe watching closely.
