It takes time for the crude to work its way through the supply chain.
The gas stations have tanks that are full of expensive fuel they bought last week.
That new/resumed crude oil supply coming from the Persian Gulf needs the customary ocean transit time, then the time to offload and run through a refinery, then to work its way through the big storage tanks. Then and only then, can the global supply and demand curves adjust to lower pricing.
In the most wildly optimistic view, that will take at least a month. Realistically a couple months.
Plus the US will need to replenish its strategic fuel reserves at some point.
