Trump announces reparations for white people. He says he will ask the Justice Department to penalize colleges that consider diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and fine them so he can pay “restitution” to white people who he considers the real victims of racial discrimination. pic.twitter.com/69sFbAz3rF

President-elect Donald Trump announced his plan to dismantle the U.S. Department of Education, pushing to transfer its responsibilities to individual states. Trump argues that states are better equipped to handle educational matters and that federal oversight has failed to improve the system effectively.
Trump also intends to direct the Department of Justice to investigate schools for what he claims is racial discrimination masquerading as equity policies. His proposal would tax school endowments found in violation and allocate a portion of these funds as restitution. Although Trump did not specify the intended beneficiaries, many expect these efforts to focus on cases involving anti-DEI lawsuits, which have claimed discrimination against white families.
