While the models have been super shaky the last few days, there has been a few things that have stayed very consistent across almost all of our models.
1 – The Pacific is about to get very favorable to send all of the cold and snow our way in the US!
2 – The Polar Vortex is about to be unleashed by an SSW (Sudden Stratospheric Warming Event). These cause warmer air to set up over the Arctic, which sends all of that frigid winter fuel outside of the typical Arctic Circle. Often, the US is a beneficiary of this Arctic air.
These two things are likely why the CPC over at the NWS has been calling for a colder January while all the models have struggled to pick up on it quite as much.
