Shocked passengers yesterday discovered a 73-year-old woman who they thought was sleeping next to them on a BA flight from London to Nice had actually died.
The woman had boarded the BA flight 348 from Heathrow to the French city’s airport last night but is believed to have suffered a heart attack in the air.
When nearby passengers began collecting their hand luggage and lining up ready to disembark, they realised the passenger, who they thought had been asleep, was not responding, reports The Connexion.
The panicked passengers told the flight attendants who quickly called for the emergency services.
Paramedics and firefighters arrived on the plane but their attempts to revive the woman were in vain. She was declared dead at 10pm local time.
The 73-year-old woman, who has not been identified, is believed to have suffered a heart attack, an official at Nice Airport told the French newspaper.
One French media report said the victim was British but BA said they could not provide or confirm details when contacted by MailOnline.
