Second UK Airport catches fire within weeks of each other.

This is the moment a fire ripped through cars parked at Bristol Airport, ‘completely destroying’ five vehicles and leaving 11 cars damaged.

The dramatic footage shows thick smoke billowing over the runway as cars in the open-air Silver Zone car park were engulfed by the flames this morning.

Multiple fire crews raced from Bedminster Fire Station to attend the scene whilst the airport fire service began tackling the blaze.

The fire began at around 10am today and is not being treated as suspicious as it believed to have been caused by ‘accidental ignition’.

The blaze is said to have been extinguished at 12pm with no injuries reported.

The fire at Luton Airport car park was started accidentally due to a vehicle fault, Sky News understands.

A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage in connection to the incident on 10 October.

It is believed the man, who has been released on bail, was arrested as a precaution and the police investigation so far suggests the fire started accidentally due to a vehicle fault.

Earlier this month Andrew Hopkinson, chief fire officer with Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, said as many as 1,500 vehicles were in the car park at the time – with up to 1,200 believed to be damaged.
