Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the use of nuclear weapons is considered an extreme measure and updating the country’s nuclear doctrine was necessary to align with the current political climate.
He claimed that it was a responsible approach and that Russia is trying to reduce nuclear risks.
The updated doctrine was published at a critical time as Russia is monitoring reports of Ukraine’s plans to use ATACMS missiles on Kursk.
