Entertainer and activist Bono of the Irish band U2 recently appeared on Joe Rogan’s podcast and defended the USAID program, claiming that as a result of its defunding by the Trump administration, 300,000 people had died around the world.
Rogan didn’t dispute Bono’s claim (although he didn’t agree with it either), but pointed out that USAID has long represented a giant money laundering operation with little oversight operating as a “soft power” wing of the United States foreign policy apparatus used to control poor countries across the globe.
Guest hosts Russell Dobular and Keaton Weiss discuss with guest Max Blumenthal how Bono serves as a humanitarian-appearing face of neoliberal western imperialism.
