Resorts World Las Vegas, one of the largest casinos on the Las Vegas Strip, has been accused by the Nevada Gaming Control Board of accommodating illegal gambling. The allegations include allowing illegal bookmaking, welcoming individuals with gambling-related felony convictions, and having ties to organized crime. Specifically, many of the allegations revolve around a Southern California bookmaker named Mathew Bowyer, who took thousands of sports bets from the former interpreter for baseball star Shohei Ohtani. Bowyer pleaded guilty to running an illegal gambling business in federal court. The casino is now facing disciplinary action, and the Gaming Commission has the authority to decide on fines or other measures.
