Let’s break it down.
Inflation is eating everything. Since 2020, prices are up more than 20% across the board. Groceries, rent, gas, insurance. All higher. Wages? Barely moved. The average paycheck rose less than 14% in that same time. That means workers are losing money every year.
Jobs aren’t what they used to be. Openings are shrinking. More than 9 million part-time workers say they want full-time jobs but can’t get them. Companies post listings, then ghost applicants. AI is now replacing workers in retail, media, customer service, and even trucking. Good luck getting hired without a perfect resume and 10 years of experience for entry-level pay.
Homelessness laws are getting harsher. Dozens of cities are making it illegal to sleep in public, even when shelters are full. Some states are pushing jail time for the unsheltered. Others want to build tent jails in rural zones to keep homeless people “away from downtown.”
Psych hospitals are back in fashion. States like California are reopening locked mental wards, some tied to new involuntary treatment laws. If someone’s acting unstable in public, they can now be taken in without a crime. Some call it help. Others call it forced confinement.
Now immigration camps are being built in old disaster zones. Border states have cleared swampy federal land to set up high-security detention sites. Officials claim it’s temporary housing for migrants. The fencing, floodlights, and barbed wire say otherwise.
Meanwhile, the President’s team is quietly expanding federal policing. Over 2,000 armed officers have been placed in major cities to “assist” local forces. They wear face coverings, carry long guns, and operate under special legal exemptions. Reports of aggressive tactics are rising, but oversight is hard to find.
That’s just scratching the surface.
