Power outages begin in Russia and Crimea due to major failure at Rostov Nuclear Power Plant

Amajor malfunction occurred at the Rostov Nuclear Power Plant in Russia. Power outages have already started in several populated areas and also affected occupied Crimea, reports the Russian Ministry of Energy.

“In the energy system of southern Russia, due to a malfunction in the generating equipment at the Rostov Nuclear Power Plant and under conditions of increased loads on the power system, temporary consumption restriction schedules of 1.5 GW have been introduced to maintain the stability of the power system,” the ministry stated.
