NYPD faces record-long response times for 911 calls as officer numbers continue to decline.

Sharing is Caring!

According to the annual Mayor’s Management Report, NYPD officers took an average of 15 minutes and 23 seconds to respond to 911 calls about crimes in progress during fiscal year 2024. This is indeed nearly a minute longer than the previous year and almost five minutes longer than four years ago. The report highlights that this is the longest response time in decades.

The increase in response times is attributed to a combination of factors, including a reduction in the number of officers and increased traffic congestion.
