NYC is closing its large tent shelter on Randalls Island, but before it does every resident will be moved to other shelters, which consist mainly of hotels. Critics say the tent shelter was overrun with violence. However, the city disputes the idea that crime here was out of control, and instead says the shelter is being closed because it’s no longer needed as less asylum seekers are coming to NYC than in months prior.
