Nothing like having kids in America

Sharing is Caring!

Thankfully I work in MA so my wife got 6 months off work and I got 3 months. Both at 70% of pay which is difficult but we make it work. He’s now 2 months old.

Since we make 70% we get Medicaid which is a god send. But when we go back to work? A family plan is 600 dollars bi weekly for insurance. Just her and the baby is 390. Im not looking for the “just get a better job” argument, we get it. But like 70% of Americans, better jobs don’t really exist except for a select few. He needs a special formula which is essentially 50 dollars a container, or 15 for pre made bottles that last a day.

We both make 45k a year. With those insurance costs, we will scrape by. Not to mention, car insurance and car payments, phone bill, Wi-Fi, two streaming services because f**k paying 300 a month for cable.

This country is a f**king joke. Thank god we have a couple family members to watch him when we do go back to work. Otherwise one of us wouldn’t be able to work at all because child care is our rent each month.

How did this happen? I grew up and my Dad told me, go to college, make 40k a year out of college and you will do great. I did it, and 45k a year is a drop in yhe f**king pond of expenses. The world is shit. The American dream is dead and I highly doubt it will ever be back. I don’t care who sits as president, because quite frankly I don’t remember the last president that actually represent the people that voted for them.

Most days I wonder if it’s all even worth it, to live to struggle, to struggle to live.

And f**k off if you say we shouldn’t have had kids. That’s not the point. The point is, that 2 full grown ass adults making 45 grand a year shouldn’t have to worry like this. We don’t make enough to get by, but make too much to get support from our country.
