Marius Borg Høiby, son of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit, is arrested on suspicion of rape
Norwegian police said Tuesday that the 27-year-old has been arrested
Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s son Marius Borg Høiby has been arrested on suspicion of rape, police have said.
The 27-year-old Norwegian, who is the stepson of the future King, is suspected of violating the criminal code ‘which concerns sexual intercourse with someone who is unconscious or for other reasons unable to resist the act’, the statement said.
Authorities said in a statement that Marius who was born from a relationship prior to his mother’s 2001 marriage to Crown Prince Haakon, had been arrested Monday evening.
‘What police can say about the rape is that it concerns a sexual act without intercourse.
‘The victim is said to have been unable to resist the act,’ police said.
Borg Høiby was detained on August 4 following a night-time row at a woman’s apartment in Oslo and accused of causing bodily harm to the resident, with whom he was having a relationship, police said.
Norwegian media reports said police found a knife stuck into one of the walls of the woman’s bedroom at the time.
He was arrested again in September for violating a restraining order.
Marius Borg Høiby – the Crown Prince of Norway’s troubled step-son – has denied criminal liability for abuse in close relationships against two women – Nora Haukland and Juliane Snekkestad; and claims he himself has been a victim.
Crown Princess Mette-Maritt’s son from a previous relationship, often referred to as the ‘black sheep’ of the royal family, has now been questioned in eight police interviews, his defence lawyer Øyvind Bratlien told TV2.
Earlier this month, the 27-year-old was taken into custody after breaching a restraining order.
The restraining order in question was for the protection of Rebecca Helberg Arntsen, whom Borg Høiby admitted to assaulting, in a booze and drug-fuelled attack on 4 August, which saw him arrested for the first time and held in a police cell overnight.
The order was not made immediately after the attack, but after Borg Høiby reportedly contacted the victim on several occasions following the assault.
