NATO denies North Korean troop involvement in Ukraine

NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte has firmly stated that there is no evidence North Korean soldiers are directly fighting in Ukraine. However, he acknowledged that North Korea is providing significant support to Russia, including weapons and technology. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, on the other hand, has claimed that North Korea is preparing to send 10,000 soldiers to the frontlines.

Rutte discussed the matter with Zelensky but refrained from confirming the claim. Meanwhile, videos circulating on social media supposedly show North Korean troops at a Russian military base, though NATO stressed these videos have not been independently verified. South Korean intelligence reports also suggest that North Korea may have sent troops to assist Russia in its war against Ukraine—marking a potential first for North Korea’s involvement in a foreign conflict.
