“Russia has taken control of more Ukrainian territory after Putin’s troops launched a late night drone strike on Kyiv.
Russian forces gained control of the village of Vyshneve in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region, the RIA news agency cited the Russian defence ministry as saying on Sunday.
A Russian air attack on Kyiv damaged buildings, roads and several power lines in the city, the capital’s military administration said early on Sunday, after the military said air defences were trying to repel a drone attack.
There were no injuries in the attack, which came in waves and approached the city from different directions, Serhiy Popko, the head of the Kyiv military administration, said on the Telegram messaging app”

Intelligence estimates, based on data from the analytical project DeepState, show that since Aug. 6, Russian forces have occupied 1,146 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory—about a quarter more than in the first seven months of the year.
According to two individuals close to the Office of the President of Ukraine, the U.S. election outcome could leave Kyiv with two choices: accept peace on disadvantageous terms or continue the war with Russia largely on its own. An unnamed source mentioned growing disillusionment among Ukrainian officials about the course of the war.
At the same time, NATO allies see no indication that Russia is interested in negotiating an end to the conflict.
