Mississippi Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann collapses on Senate floor


Mississippi Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann collapsed while presiding over the Senate on February 19, 2025. He was standing at the podium when he suddenly fell.

Senators and staff quickly helped, and medical personnel arrived soon after. Hosemann regained consciousness shortly and was described as being in good spirits.

Gov. Tate Reeves expressed support, posting, “@firstladyofms and I are praying for Lieutenant Governor Hosemann!”

The Senate took a recess, with Senate Pro Tempore Dean Kirby stepping in. There’s no update on Hosemann’s condition yet, though he’s reportedly eager to return to work.
