President Donald Trump did not hold back on Thursday morning while responding to the attacks on ICE agents in Minneapolis, warning he will invoke the Insurrection Act if Minnesota politicians fail to rein in the “professional agitators and insurrectionists.”
Trump’s statement comes after a night of extreme chaos in the city, which included an agent having to fire a defensive round after being attacked with a shovel handle by an illegal alien and rioters robbing paperwork and weapons from an ICE vehicle.
Perhaps the worst violence and anarchy in Minneapolis occurred last night as radical leftists continue to tear the city apart over the presence of ICE and in response to last week’s self-defense shooting of a left-wing protester. Rioters terrorized ICE and FBI agents in just about every way imaginable short of assaulting them, while local cops unsurprisingly let it happen.
Journalist Nick Sortor was on scene covering all of the mayhem.
The evening started badly enough with rioters looting and destroying FBI and ICE vehicles, forcing agents to abandon them.

BREAKING: Judge sides with President Trump, rules ICE can continue surging operations in Minnesota.
— Leading Report (@LeadingReport) January 15, 2026
A federal judge appointed by former President Joe Biden declined on Wednesday to issue a temporary restraining order blocking U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in Minnesota, saying she needed more evidence before ruling.
The state sued Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and other federal officials earlier this week to halt what it describes as an escalating surge of federal law enforcement.
Newsweek reached out to Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison’s office for comment via email.
