This is news in Mexico, but not finding any mention in English publications.
On Monday, Mexico extradited 29 cartel bosses to the US, including Rafael Caro Quintero, involved in the killing of DEA agent Enrique Camareno in 1985 and top Zeta bosses Oscar Omar Treviño Morales, and Miguel Angel Treviño Morales. All those extradited were already incarcerated in Mexican prisons.
It is being reported here that the US and Mexico have agreed in a meeting to jointly attack the cartel power and fentanyl. I don’t know why this isn’t big news in the US, it’s a sign that Mexico wants to deal with the problem.
Some links to the news in Spanish:
In this one Milenio news says they have received confirmation of the extraditions from sources in the US Federal Government. I don’t know why I can’t find this story in English.
Some news sources in Mexico are saying there were 36 people extradited.
