LockBit Ransomware Gang letter to FBI Director Kash Patel with Data proving corruption

The notorious LockBit ransomware group has claimed possession of classified information that could “destroy” the FBI, directing a bold threat toward newly appointed FBI Director Kash Patel.

In a provocative message, the cybercriminals congratulated Patel on his new role while accusing his subordinates of being “professional manipulators” who prioritize misinformation over national security. LockBit alleged they have a password-protected file containing sensitive data proving corruption by subordinates within the agency and urged Patel to contact them personally to prevent its potential release, which they claim could severely damage the FBI’s reputation.

This incident follows a pattern of LockBit’s antagonistic behavior toward the FBI. In December, they issued a similar challenge to then-FBI Director Christopher Wray, mocking the agency’s attempts to dismantle their operations.

LockBit is one of the most prolific ransomware gangs, known for its Ransomware-as-a-Service (RaaS) model. The group has been responsible for numerous high-profile cyberattacks worldwide, targeting government agencies, corporations, and critical infrastructure. Despite law enforcement crackdowns, LockBit continues to evolve its tactics, maintaining a significant presence in the cybercrime ecosystem.
