LAPD Cruiser Hits Civilian Car During Emergency Response

Los Angeles, California — On May 26 2025, at around 1:55 p.m. Los Angeles Police Officers responded with emergency lights and siren to a radio call of a domestic violence in the 6700 block of Riverton Avenue. When the officers were traveling eastbound on Saticoy Street approaching Cleon Avenue, a driver of a silver Honda Accord making a left-hand turn from Cleon to Saticoy, which resulted in a multi-vehicle crash. The driver was later identified as 91-year-old Jose Hernandez. After the officers exited their police vehicle and reoriented themselves, they attempted to render aid to Hernandez. The Officer immediately requested a rescue ambulance for Hernandez, his partner, and himself. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced Hernandez deceased.
