They promised to raise taxes on the Billionaires.
Now instead they are raising NYC property taxes on everyone.

THAT WAS FAST! Zohran Mamdani announces he will raise taxes on all New Yorkers.
He wants a 10% increase in property taxes and to “raid” the city’s savings accounts.
This is only the start. His communist wish list will require more tax increases. NYC and its residents will be… pic.twitter.com/HDWIvgFVvm

Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani
@NYCMayor
Today, I’m releasing the City’s preliminary budget. After years of fiscal mismanagement, we’re staring at a $5.4 billion budget gap — and two paths.
One: Albany can raise taxes on the ultra-wealthy and the most profitable corporations and address the fiscal imbalance between our city and state.
The other, a last resort: balance the budget on the backs of working people using the only tools at the City’s disposal.
The first path matches a structural crisis with a sustainable and fair solution. I know where I stand.
New Yorkers voted for bold change and competent leadership. We will deliver both, and we look forward to partnering with Albany to protect working New Yorkers.

I’m a Real Estate expert.
In NYC, commercial tenants are customarily responsible for any increases in property taxes.
This means small business owners, like the bodegas Mamdani claims to love so much, will foot the bill of higher property taxes.
And given how small their profit margins are, a 9.5% hike will be absolutely devastating.
This is what it looks like when you hire an inexperienced mayor who doesn’t understand how property taxes work.

A socialist. Raising property taxes across the board. Pulling reserves meant for emergencies. Stealing retiree pension funds. He's been in office less than 60 days.

ZOHRAN MAMDANI PROPOSED NEW YORK CITY’S FIRST PROPERTY-TAX HIKE IN OVER TWO DECADES TO CLOSE A ~$5B BUDGET GAP, A PLAN THAT ALSO TAPS RESERVES AND RELIES ON OPTIMISTIC REVENUE FORECASTS, WHILE KATHY HOCHUL OFFERED $1.5B IN STATE AID BUT SAID THE TAX DECISION RESTS WITH THE CITY…

🇺🇸 Mamdani has declared that property taxes will require a 9.5% hike across NYC to make up for Gov. Kathy Hochul's refusal to hike taxes on NY's wealthy.
