The war rhetoric just crossed a new threshold. On June 19, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps issued a direct warning to Israel: evacuate the area around the Dimona nuclear facility. The message wasn’t vague. Iranian state-linked media quoted the IRGC saying, “The occupation must evacuate the Dimona reactor immediately.”

Dimona is not just another military site. It’s the core of Israel’s undeclared nuclear program. Built in the 1960s, the Negev Nuclear Research Center near Dimona is widely believed to house Israel’s nuclear arsenal. Estimates from the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation suggest Israel holds between 80 and 400 nuclear warheads. The country has never signed the Non-Proliferation Treaty. It has never confirmed or denied its nuclear capability. But everyone knows what Dimona is.
The IRGC’s warning follows a week of escalating strikes. Israel has hit multiple Iranian nuclear and military sites, including facilities in Natanz, Isfahan, and Tehran. Satellite imagery confirms structural damage at missile bases and tunnel entrances in western Iran. Iran has responded with over 400 missile launches into Israeli territory. Civilian casualties are mounting. And now, the nuclear card is being waved.
Israeli authorities have not confirmed any evacuation at Dimona. No official statement has been issued. But the timing is critical. The warning came just hours after an Iranian lawmaker publicly called for a direct strike on Dimona, stating, “You attacked our nuclear facilities, so we will attack your nuclear centres, of course, with a two-ton warhead.”
