Iran just imposed 48-hour advance notice for all Strait of Hormuz shipping under a new US deal

Iran’s Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA) announced that all ships must submit transit requests at least 48 hours in advance to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

Only ships that follow this rule will get quick approval for passage.

Fees for security, safety, environment services and insurance are waived for 60 days under the recent US-Iran Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Iran will cover those costs during this period.

This comes after a new US-Iran deal to reopen the strait and ease some tensions.

The rule is to improve safety and coordination, especially with past issues like mines in the area.

Shipping companies now need to plan ahead more carefully for this important oil route.
