ICE agents swarm home for wellness check

Federal immigration agents descended on a suburban home in Highwood, Illinois, conducting what they called a “wellness check” that quickly escalated into an interrogation. The incident, captured on video by gun safety activist Ashbey Beasley, has raised serious concerns about ICE’s tactics and the true purpose behind these so-called welfare visits.

Beasley, who was in her car filming the encounter, watched as seven agents surrounded the home, questioning the woman inside about her immigration status, personal safety, and even her sex life. The woman refused to leave with them, standing her ground as agents pressed her with invasive questions.

ICE officials claim these checks are part of an effort to ensure unaccompanied minors released to sponsors are not victims of trafficking or abuse. However, legal experts argue that these visits are being used as a pretext for immigration enforcement, allowing agents to sidestep due process and conduct warrantless investigations.

Beasley was warned twice by agents that she was “impeding” their operation, though she maintains that she stayed in her car and did not interfere. Her footage, now circulating online, has fueled public outrage, with critics accusing ICE of using intimidation tactics under the guise of child welfare checks.
