Discussions on the use of frozen Russian assets to help Ukraine are still ongoing. A collective decision will be announced at the G7 summit, says Denys Maliuska, Minister of Justice of Ukraine.
“The US has taken the first important step. They have decided to authorize the US administration to confiscate Russian assets. In full, not in full, interest, income from them – it doesn’t matter. The right was granted. The United States has shown that it is legal,” the minister said.
He noted that the United States is trying to bring the rest of the countries to follow this strategy, but this strategy is not fully successful, and there is an ongoing discussion about what to do with the proceeds of Russian assets.
“There are many options. Discussions are ongoing. But the key thing is that it should be done collectively. A collective decision will be announced in Italy (at the G7 summit – ed.). I think we will understand in early June what will happen to the assets,” Maliuska added.
