Applicants for German citizenship must now recognize Israel’s right to exist.
Scholz’s government requires migrants who have settled in the country to show evidence that they share German values. These include recognition of Israel’s right to exist, condemnation of anti-Semitism and Nazi crimes against Jews, and support for gender equality and democracy. The new law comes into force today.
