Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody has filed a lawsuit against FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell and former FEMA employee Marn’i Washington, accusing the agency of political discrimination in the wake of Hurricane Milton. The lawsuit claims FEMA workers were instructed to bypass homes displaying Trump signs while providing relief in Lake Placid, Florida.
The lawsuit asserts that at least 20 homes were skipped, alleging a violation of civil rights. The directive, reportedly issued by Washington, was carried out both verbally and through a group chat. Washington was subsequently fired, and Criswell condemned the actions, stating they violated FEMA’s core values.
Governor Ron DeSantis supports the legal action, which seeks accountability and ensures relief for all storm victims, irrespective of political affiliation.
