According to PCMag, the FBI has reinstated the security clearance of agent Marcus Allen and authorized 27 months of back pay. Allen had been suspected of misconduct related to investigations of the January 6th Capitol riot defendants. He drew scrutiny within the bureau for allegedly withholding “relevant information” related to the investigation. However, the FBI’s decision to reinstate his clearance was based on a determination that the original security concerns had been investigated and sufficiently mitigated. Allen, who testified as part of a panel of FBI agents describing themselves as “whistleblowers,” sought review from Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz.
