The FBI arrested 30-year-old Harun Abdul-Malik Yener from Coral Springs, Florida, for attempting to bomb the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) during Thanksgiving 2024. Yener is charged with trying to use an explosive device to damage a building used in interstate commerce.
The FBI launched its investigation in February 2024 after a tip revealed Yener was storing bomb-making schematics in a storage unit. Authorities discovered bomb-making plans, timers, and electronic components that could be used for explosives.
Since 2017, Yener had been researching bomb-making online. During an undercover operation, he shared his intention to detonate the bomb before Thanksgiving, targeting the NYSE. Yener expressed a desire to “reboot” the U.S. government and hoped the explosion would have catastrophic consequences.
Yener is now in custody, facing serious federal charges.
