Viktor Orbán: “Other European countries would give half their lives if they could have a country without migrants again. In Hungary we have zero unwanted migration; only those we let in can come here”.

June 13, 2024:
EU fines Hungary €200 million for flouting asylum laws
The EU’s top court on Thursday fined Hungary 200 million euros ($216 million) and imposed a daily one-million-euro penalty for failing to follow the bloc’s asylum laws and illegally deporting migrants, a decision Budapest slammed as “unacceptable”.
The fine and penalty were because Hungary “is deliberately evading” compliance with the European Union laws despite a 2020 ruling that it must uphold international procedures for asylum seekers, the European Court of Justice said.
“Since this failure to fulfil obligations constitutes an unprecedented and exceptionally serious breach of EU law, the Court orders Hungary to pay a lump sum of 200 million euros and a penalty payment of one million euros per day of delay,” it said in a statement.
Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who is frequently at loggerheads with Brussels, immediately voiced outrage.
“The ECJ’s decision to fine Hungary with 200M euros plus 1M euros daily(!!!) for defending the borders of the European Union is outrageous and unacceptable,” the nationalist premier wrote on X.
“It seems that illegal migrants are more important to the Brussels bureaucrats than their own European citizens,” he added.

Hungary has been ordered to pay a €200m (£169m) fine for its refusal to uphold the rights of asylum seekers in what was described as an “unprecedented” breach of EU law by the bloc’s highest court.
The European court of justice in Luxembourg also ordered Budapest to pay €1m a day until it complies with EU laws guaranteeing refugees the right to claim asylum inside Hungarian borders.
In a major judgment issued on Thursday, the court said Hungary had shown “deliberate evasion” in applying EU policy, which it described as “an unprecedented and exceptionally serious infringement of EU law” and “a significant threat to the unity of EU law and to the principle of equality of the member states”.

The only true leader in Europe: “In Hungary there are zero illegal immigrants. Crossing border without permission is not a human right, it is a crime. If you want to come to Hungary you must ask for permission, then authorities will decide whether to let you in." Holy words. pic.twitter.com/62IT8B7Qjw

Latest news from the Hungarian border: the pressure of illegal migration is mounting due to the failed policies of Brussels. Hungary has blocked over 125,000 illegal border-crossing attempts just this year. We will protect our borders, but we need a change in #Brussels if we want… pic.twitter.com/fnZStQV622
