Elon Musk: NGOs should not be funded by the government to lobby elected representatives!

The receipts are out. The U.S. Agency for International Development has been pumping billions into nonprofits that don’t build roads, don’t feed the hungry, and don’t stabilize regions. They lobby. They push ideology. They bankroll fringe projects with zero measurable return. And they do it with taxpayer money.

This isn’t a new trick. It’s just finally getting sunlight. USAID’s books show $1.9 billion routed to a shell NGO with no operational history. No staff. No field offices. No track record. The money moved anyway. The stated purpose? “Capacity building.” The real outcome? Unknown. The oversight? Nonexistent.

The White House flagged the problem in February. A breakdown of USAID’s recent grants reads like a parody. $1.5 million to promote DEI in Serbian workplaces. $70,000 for a DEI musical in Ireland. $47,000 for a transgender opera in Colombia. $32,000 for a transgender comic book in Peru. $2 million for sex changes and LGBT activism in Guatemala. $6 million to boost tourism in Egypt. And that’s just the surface layer.

The deeper rot is structural. These NGOs operate as shadow arms of the federal government. They lobby Congress. They shape policy. They push narratives. And they do it without registering as foreign agents or disclosing their funding sources. It’s influence laundering. It’s regulatory arbitrage. It’s a workaround for laws that were supposed to prevent this exact thing.
