The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished Monday with an 11th straight day of advances, as investors used the lack of a long-awaited recession to drive up equities ahead of a Federal Reserve rate decision and busy week of corporate earnings.
What happened
- The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished up by 183.55 points, or 0.5%, at 35,411.24. Monday’s advance gives the index its longest winning streak since the 12-day trading period that ended on Feb. 27, 2017.
- The S&P 500 closed up by 18.30 points, or 0.4%, at 4,554.64.
- The Nasdaq Composite ended up by 26.06 points, or 0.2%, at 14,058.87.
