Did you guys notice that beef price is surging (again)?

Chuck roast was $5/lb at my local walmart in 2019, $6.5 last year, and $7.5 now πŸ™ A 50% increase in price. I eat at least five pounds of chuck roast per week (I don’t eat poultry and rarely eat pork), so it costs a lot of money to me.

A local restaurant used to use shredded beef in their burritos, but recently switched to ground beef and kept the price the same. πŸ™ It was my favorite place for lunch but I have stopped going there…

So, a consumer recession or a corporate earnings recession? Which one will happen (first)? I am now betting against the market just to hedge the increase in living cost…
