Washington, D.C. (WCJB) – A congressman representing parts of North Central Florida is introducing a bill which would ban anyone with citizenship in a country other than the U.S. from being elected to Congress.

Rep. Randy Fine (R-Fla.) introduced H.R.5817 Friday. The bill is titled “To prohibit the election to Congress of any person holding foreign citizenship.”

Fine, who represents parts of Putnam and Marion County in the U.S. House of Representatives, has an active social media presence. Fine received backlash from House Democrats after making posts calling Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), who holds Somali citizenship, a Muslim terrorist.
