Chinese President Xi Jinping and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas announced during their meeting in Beijing on Wednesday the establishment of a bilateral strategic partnership, China Central Television (CCTV) reported.
“Having encountered epochal global changes and new challenges in the Middle East, China is ready to strengthen its coordination and cooperation with Palestine to promote an all-encompassing, just and longstanding resolution of the Palestinian issue,” Xi added.
China vows support for Palestinian state on 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital
Abbas arrived in Beijing on Tuesday for a three-day visit, and met with Xi on Wednesday. During their meeting, Xi endorsed the creation of a Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as its capital, according to CGTN. China has long endorsed a two-state solution to the conflict, like much of the international community.
