An unmanned, oval-shaped aircraft from flying taxi manufacturer EHang hovers above a riverside innovation district on the outskirts of the southern Chinese commercial center of Guangzhou, whirring loudly like a miniature helicopter as part of trials for a compact flying taxi that could have been lifted straight from science fiction movies.
In the neighboring city of Shenzhen, food-delivery drones have become an integral part of everyday life and serve as a unique tourist attraction, despite the premium pricing for such services. At the waterfront park encircled by towering skyscrapers, Polish visitor Karolina Trzciańska and her companions placed a phone order for bubble tea and lemon tea, simply to experience the novelty.
Their beverages arrived approximately 30 minutes later via a drone that buzzed through the light rain.
