In September 2024, China’s consumer confidence index dropped to 85.7 points, slightly lower than the previous month’s 85.8. Despite this decline, smaller cities have shown surprising resilience, with retail and restaurant sectors remaining active.
October’s economic recovery signs have lifted market confidence, with improvements in both business and consumer sentiment. Recent policy measures are helping to elevate expectations, with the government targeting higher economic growth by the end of 2024.
